Junior IT Support Technician

The Position

Working as part of a team, your role will be to provide support for the office IT infrastructure and personnel (both technical and non-technical) of the company. You will focus primarily on in-house, office automation systems which include approximately 150 users in a mixed Microsoft environment comprising of workstations, routers, proxy, file, web, development and database servers. You will have at least 6 months experience working within a commercial environment and a passionate desire to work with and expand your knowledge of IT systems.

The role will be a mixture of in office support and remote support.

You will have had exposure to desktop support (1st Line) and be familiar with administration of Microsoft Office Suite. You must be familiar with the basic workings of servers and clients, within a networked environment and be able to pick up unfamiliar technologies and software quickly.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Providing 1st /2nd line desktop, network and server support to office based and remote users
  • Windows Active Directory management/Azure administration
  • Support the IT Systems and internal users of the company through ticket requests, helpdesk queries and assigned projects
  • Installation and Administration of Windows and/or Linux workstations
  • Assisting approximately 150 staff with Desktop PC / laptop issues within a Windows 10, Linux and MS 365 environment
  • Managing VPN for remote users using Meraki
  • Setting up PCs for new users and decommissioning PCs and other equipment at the end of lifecycle and in compliance with company processes and policies
  • Managing LAN cabling and WLAN and other physical installations of IT systems
  • Documentation of processes and systems
  • Participating in out of hour on-call rota with other IT personnel.
  • Compliance with, and support of, company standards and policies

Experience and Knowledge

  • Exposure of Desktop and Server Support in a commercial environment
  • Exposure to admin knowledge of PCs, Windows 10, Active Directory, MS 365 Suite
  • Some knowledge of TCP/IP and Networking topology (including wireless)
  • Excellent English-language verbal and written communication
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
