The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s most dynamic web companies during a period of exciting growth. The Junior digital Designer will have a background in Graphic Design, User Centered Design (UX / UI) & with an understanding of HTML/CSS/JS. The position will be joining a strong technical team and be working on the user experience of HooYu.com and 192.com people search and business directory, and other online properties with a strong mobile web orientation.

This is an online environment and HooYu.com / 192.com is a fast paced organization with demanding customer service and operational excellence requirements.

Principle responsibilities

• Transfer business requirements into conceptual designs (wireframes, sitemaps, flowcharts, Online Ads)
• Create high level visual designs in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign
• Quickly iterate on multiple solutions as required
• Work with the Lead UX\UI Designer and create inspiring and engaging assets
• Comfortable creating a whole brand concept and evaluating a brands visual language • Consistent design system / brand guidelines
• Design engaging user interfaces and user journeys through use of mock-ups and paper and click through prototypes that demonstrate strong visual understanding
• Eloquently present designs and review with a variety of stakeholders
• Transfer designs into functional specifications for a technical audience
• Assist in user research and other user centered design activities
• Fluent in responsive design, mobile/tablet UI/UX
• Basic knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 development for mobile and desktop web
• Compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards

Required Skills and Experience

• Excellent design skills and creative solutions following recent design trends and standards
• Experience theoretical and practical knowledge in Information Architecture, Human-Computer Interaction, and usability and navigation design principles
• Experience with Responsive Design, mobile/tablet UI/UX
• Proficiency in visual design and aesthetics
• Experience of the Adobe Creative Suite especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
• Excellent eye for aesthetics: layout, grid systems, colour theory and typography
• An understanding of accessible website development

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience working with WordPress
• Experience with Agile / Kanban methodology
• Knowledge of Project management tools such as JIRA / Confluence
• Knowledge of prototyping tools such as Axure, Adobe XD, InVision, etc.
• SEO Techniques exposure Personal Skills & Qualities
• Excellent verbal and written English language skills
• Self-motivated with strong team spirit
• Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as ability to work within a team
• Excellent multi-tasking skills
• Ability to communicate well to both technical and non-technical staff
• Formal education in UI/UX design is a definite plus
