Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities management and professional services company has today announced that HooYu is to provide the digital identity verification elements of their criminal record and Right to Work checks through their Procius MyCheck™ and UKCRBs platforms.
As one of the first two digital identity service providers (IDSPs) in the UK to receive government certification in June, HooYu have led the way in championing the benefits of digital identity verification technology (IDVT) for employers and those needing to screen candidates for criminal records through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
New legislation, which came into force on 6th April 2022, allows employers to conduct identity checks for DBS and Right to Work screening using digital identity verification technology for the very first time. Historically, these checks have been completed manually, with physical evidence and paper documents needing to be presented in person by applicants.
Carrying out Basic, Standard and Enhanced DBS checks and Right to Work screening digitally supports long-term post-pandemic working practices and empowers employers with screening processes that are more secure, more reliable, less labour-intensive and more convenient for both employers and candidates.
As remote and hybrid working becomes commonplace, so digital solutions have been recognised as playing an increasingly important role in defending employers against the rising threat of fraudulent job applications and its associated impact on organisational security.
Across the country, Mitie’s 77,500 people look after a large, diverse, blue-chip customer base, from banks and retailers, to hospitals, schools and critical government strategic assets.
Mitie’s premise – to deliver the exceptional everyday – required a solution that demonstrates their commitment to best practice screening.
Procius is Mitie’s employment screening specialist team. In partnering with HooYu, Procius and the company’s specialist criminality checking team, UKCRBs, can provide their clients with market-leading digital identity verification technology and enable them to take full advantage of the benefits of digital identity screening.
Lisa Thomas, Mitie Director of Vetting Services commented: “We are very excited to enter a partnership with HooYu to support our clients with a fully embedded Identity Document Verification solution within our platforms MyCheck and UKCRBs for their right to work and DBS checks. This will assist our client’s recruitment, vetting and onboarding timeframes and processes, removing the touchpoints required as well as enhancing the security and integrity of these checks.”
David Pope, HooYu Marketing Director added: “We are thrilled that Mitie have chosen to partner with HooYu to provide their Procius and UKCRBs clients with exceptional DBS and Right to Work digital identity verification services. Our market-leading approach provides everything that employers need to check the identity of their employees and build compliant, secure and convenient onboarding journeys.”
