QA Analyst

The Position

This role is focused on assisting the technical team in maintaining a high level of system quality in terms of errors, bugs, reliability and performance, as well as supporting the enforcement of compliance with company test policy, technical and procedural standards.

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for the development, maintenance and operation of QA test automation, and for training less experienced QA personnel in that activity. The candidate will also assist in driving effective Quality Assurance (QA) for the technical systems and processes that support the company’s product development and delivery.

This is a hands-on role with future leadership potential that will involve the testing processes to be followed for all phases of the system development and release lifecycle, as well as assisting in operational process monitoring and enforcement in close cooperation with the Compliance team. QA responsibilities will include testing of systems before and after live promotion, to understand specifications, writing documents, creating manual test scripts, and delivery of all test activities throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC). The nature of the product delivery platforms involved dictate that all QA testers be comfortable with both automated and manual test activities.

Principle responsibilities:
  • Design, development and maintenance of test cases and automation, working closely with the Team Lead, other QA team members, the Product Team and the Compliance Team
  • Assisting in the requirements definition, selection and deployment of test automation tools
  • Performing hands-on QA activities to improve QA productivity
  • Assisting in ongoing automated and manual testing from development to live environment.
  • Assist with Quality Assurance policy, process and methodology development, implementation and execution.
  • Participating in software requirements definition and planning processes to assist in defining QA related tasks.
  • Assist in raising and documenting defects, writing test cases, test plans.
  • Compliance with company standards and processes, and assisting in the monitoring and enforcement of same.
Required skills and knowledge:
  • Educated to degree level; ideally an IT or computing degree or the equivalent experience.
  • At least two years experience with test automation technologies like Selenium/Webdriver (preferred) or with one or more scripting or programming languages (preferably VB or javascript) in a test automation context
  • Experience in creating, executing and maintaining test cases
  • Experience with QA tools and processes within an Agile-based development environment
  • Strong manual testing skills, with understanding of Regression, Smoke, Exploratory, adhoc testing
  • Understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and STLC (Software test life cycle) standard processes and industry best practices
  • Understanding of iterative nature of regression testing using both manual and automation testing
  • Understanding of different test levels and approaches from component to acceptance testing and the related entry and exit criteria for each phase
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Access and PowerPoint
  • Looking at root cause of defects and providing detailed steps to replicate
Desired skills/experience:
  • Experience setting up Eclipse to be configured with Selenium Webdriver
  • Experience in testing web / mobile based application
  • Experience with web application development
  • Knowledge of OWASP secure coding standard
  • Experience working in an ISO 27001 certified development environment
  • ISEB foundation certification will be advantageous.
